Toni Tisdale
Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS)

  • Principal Planner, Team Lead Resource Development
Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS)

    LinkedIn

I currently manage a regional transportation improvement program (five-year budget) for Ada and Canyon Counties, Idaho, at the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho, where I work closely with a board of directors consisting of local elected officials and organizational leaders. This work requires practical thinking, attention to detail, problem solving, and analytical skills to track an ever-changing program, many times with uncertain funding. I commonly make formal presentations to the board of directors, as well as other groups and organizations.

I am a team member in the development of Communities in Motion (CIM), the regional long-range transportation plan. I work closely with our member agencies and the public building scenarios, presenting complex planning and federal funding concepts, and engaging them in land-use and transportation decisions that will affect them, their children, and their grandchildren. Outreach for Communities in Motion involves reaching out to all communities in Ada and Canyon Counties through presentations at chambers of commerce and other civic organizations, City Council meetings, homeowners association meetings, and even farmer’s markets.

My experience ties into strategic planning from budgeting my program on an annual basis to developing and implementing the regional vision, and tracking performance measures for the long-range transportation plan. I am adept at researching and interpreting federal and state regulations and track legislation on a regular basis.

My natural gift of motivating others through genuine optimism helps me build strong internal and external coalitions. I have been a lead project manager since 2002 with much success in my programs. Working directly with elected officials, governmental staff, and the general public requires me to be diplomatic, composed in any situation, provide a consistent and transparent message, and work under pressure.
